You can use the Internet to place and cancel holds, review your account, and renew materials—all on your schedule!

 

How to Access Your Account

  • Have your library card in your hand.
  • Open your browser.
  • Type in the library's homepage:

http://library.ci.manchester.ct.us (and bookmark it!)

  • Click on Search the Library Catalog .
  • Click on Renew My Materials Review My Account .
  • Your choices will be:
  • Review My Account —allows you to see what you have checked out, what holds you have placed, whether or not you owe any fines, or if a reserved item has arrived for you.   You can also cancel a hold.
  • Renew My Materials —allows you to renew all renewable items, generally all 3-week loan materials that haven't already been renewed or requested by another library user.
  • User PIN Change —allows you to change your PIN, or password, to your account.   Everyone's initial PIN is CHANGEME.

 

How to Place a Hold Online

 

  • Have your library card in your hand.
  • Open your browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape).
  • Type in the library's homepage:

  • Click on Search the Library Catalog .
  • Click on Search Entire Manchester Public Library Catalog .
  • Type the title or author of the item in which you are interested in the box to the left of Words or Phrase .
  • Click on the SEARCH button to the right.
  • You will receive a list of search results.   When you find the item you want in the list, click on the word Details to the left of the title.
  • You will receive an individual listing of the item, telling you how many copies the library owns and whether or not any are available to be checked out.
  • If you wish to reserve the item, click on the phrase PLACE HOLD to the left of the title and often below a picture of the item's cover.   Please note that if you reserve an item with an on-shelf status, library staff will not be notified to pull it for you until the next day.
  • A new screen will appear where you will have to enter your User ID , which is the barcode number from your library card, and your PIN .   Your PIN is CHANGEME (all capitals, no spaces) unless you have previously chosen a different PIN. You may need to specify a pickup location, either MANCHESTER to choose Mary Cheney or MANCH-WHIT to select the Whiton Branch.
  • Click on Place Hold .
  • A new screen acknowledging your hold will appear.   Click OK .   You will then be returned to the item's individual listing.

 

If you have forgotten your PIN, you will need to come to the library with your library card to have library staff look it up for you.   In order to protect your privacy, we cannot provide PINs over the phone.

 

Holds may be placed on all 3-week loan materials, but not on entertainment videos, DVDs or museum passes.
