The year is 1914 and the Great War is on the verge of beginning. It is not the World War I you are familiar with. This was is separated by Clankers and Darwinists. Clankers believe in the power of machines, ranging from mechanical walkers to complex zeppelins. The Darwinists have perfect bioengineering to combine various life threads of creatures into massive flying ships. It is an alternative look at the past as well as advancing science far beyond those of the era.
As an added treat try giving the audiobook a try. It is brilliantly narrated by Alan Cumming.
